Divine Encounters
Written by Rev. Dr. Christie Love
Call to Worship
Friends, some of us come into this place weary and worn from the week we have had. Some of us enter with excitement and enthusiasm. Some of us are confused. Some of us are worried. Some of us are at peace. There is no right or wrong way to enter this space, as the Divine’s welcome is wide enough for all of our experiences and emotions.
O Divine one, meet us where we are today in our minds, our bodies, and our spirits.
No one in this place is perfect. By nature, we are flawed people with shortcomings and struggles. We all make mistakes. You do not have to pretend to have it all together in this place, you are welcome to bring the fullness of your strengths and your weaknesses. Our Divine Parent does not demand perfection and does not desire performance from us to connect with them.
We hope you feel able to come into this space in a way that is authentic to you.
May this sacred space today provide you with an encounter with the divine. However, may we always remember that divine encounters are not limited to stained glass and steeple. Divinity can connect with our hearts and spirits anywhere that we are willing to pay attention to the movements of holiness in the world.
May we seek the Divine in this place and all the places our journey takes us.
Prayer
Divine Parent, may we encounter you today in a way that refreshes our hearts and gives us what we need to keep traveling the journey we are each on individually and together as a faith community. Amen.
